FUD is an even greater nightmare/threat than AR-style rifles as we set new records for mass murders per year — in the states with the most lax gun regulations leading the way — as FUD convinces many that guns will magically protect them from other people with guns … while the death count keeps climbing.
And not a thing will be done. Even if Congress were to miraculously pass even modest gun regulations, the radical right-wing SCOTUS would overturn it. I am still a Fan of increasing its size. Add four more justices — or six. 15 sounds like the right number to me. Or at least introduce term limits.
Pass laws regarding the teaching of diversity, slavery, etc. but fail to pass laws which might prevent future slaughter of school children. Already 125 mass shootings in the U.S. in 92 calendar days in 2023. But the Founding Fathers would be applauding these protections of the 2nd Amendment … /s.
From the “Google”: The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed; a well armed and well regulated militia being the best security of a free country:
Seems a solution would be the “well regulated” part of this. Anyone owning an assault style “arms” must belong to a well regulated militia.
Let the well “regulated part” control who is granted the right to own arms.. and hold them responsible.
Congressional republicans don’t REALLY care about “mass shootings” since they have not been involved in one since the 1950s – and since they have police protection, for the most part, and their kids attend well-protected private schools, they probably NEVER WILL BE…
The NRA pays Mitt Romney 13 million dollars, along with millions more to other Senators to keep the AR-15 on the market and in the hands of mentally incompetent people.

Oddly, I thought these were the result of a prisoner keeping track of their days in the slammer.

As long as Repubs and their wealthy donors can monetize violence, and they’ve done that well, they have no reason to stop it.

“…thoughts & prayers…” (Did anyone catch the prayer by the chaplain of the U S Senate? He seemed to think more was needed…)
