Both Holly and Max are really horrible children. They need rules to follow.

Your life is just going to get a little less complicated when you are grounded.

In panel 1, Holly’s hairline looks like horns. How appropriate.

I didn’t really start seriously doing homework till I was 35!! I needed a degree in something because my plant didn’t seem like it would last. Got a degree in Data Science, got a job as a programmer when the plant closed. It was the only time school was important to me.

Homework time now begins at 4 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m., with 20 minutes off for lunch. The place is the living room.

OK missy, here is how it’s going to be. Your phone is gone and if you don’t bring up your grades to a minimum C+ by next marking period you’re grounded.

My plan was child did homework while I cooked dinner, and if necessary, continued on after dinner while I cleaned up the kitchen. I was available that way to help or answer questions. It just happened. I don’t recall coming up with the idea. Sometimes homework was done before I got home from work, but not too often. It was good bonding time, really. As child got older, sometimes I got home from work and dinner was ready. I went back for another master’s degree, and we did homework together for a few years.
