Must have been a lot more than two dollars a share.

About [mumble] years ago, I worked for a smallish company. Shortly after I was first hired, the company stock was trading at $25 per share. About 2 years later, the CEO and half of the senior VPs were caught in a scheme in which they were lying about sales numbers to trigger a year end company bonus. Product kept being built, but less than half of it was shipped anywhere. It just kept piling up to the point they had to rent semi trailers to store it all. The scheme was finally discovered, and company ended up laying off a 3rd of the employees company wide, myself included, just to stay afloat. I was literally walked out the door, while those who caused all the problems were allowed to resign. Shortly after I was let go, the stock was trading under $1 per share. I don’t miss that place.

The old adage ’don’t put all your eggs in one basket’ comes to mind.

Stock options are also a crapshoot.

If it was in lieu of a raise, it should have been given to them, they shouldn’t have had to pay.

She probably paid a lot more than $2.00 per share.
