    I have heard the same comment from many friends. According to the news one of the sad facts of this recession/depression is that many compainies aren’t hiring because their employees are now working harder and getting more done, so they don’t need more people.

    I have to agree with you. Here in the welfare office, we’ve had a hiring freeze for three years, but many retirements and the usual numbers moving to other jobs, so the workforce is down about 40%. However with the economy being what it is, our applications have doubled over the past 18 months. I would love to be able to take care of our disadvantaged, but please give me a chance! And our dear governor Ed Rendell has once again threatened to terminate another 1000 state workers if the state congress does not approve his “pet” bill. PS - If you ever see Ed Rendell’s name in the future, RUN! Even my most liberal union buddies are so happy that his term is up in 2010.

    No, I thought they looked like chastity belts, and it was another way of “management” to control his workers’ output.
