And they continue – they will fight in the Senate, they will fight in the states with their attorney generals, they will fight in the courts, they will fight anywhere anytime that Hope and Progress raises it’s head.
Does that mean you’ll be asking for the repeal of the Bush and Obama tax cuts, then? They are costing the US something like 400 billions per year together - and by most studies, don’t have all that much effect.
Hey, churchill, I’m surprised you are so against this. Are you in fact in favor of a National Health Service instead, as Winston Churchill was? He called it one of his proudest achievements, you know.
After tax income in Quebec is about %60. Meaning aprox %40 goes to taxes. But that’s just income taxes. After all the other taxes, the most you keep to yourself is %50. And Quebec is not the worst of the bunch. DrC is in Alberta, one of the most tax friendly provinces if not THE tax friendliest, so he keeps more.
^ My taxes in Ontario are about the same as DrC’s, though I’d have to check to get the precise numbers. (The Federal tax rate, I assume, is identical.) And again, we don’t have to pay for health insurance on top of the taxes, since that’s included in the taxes. I also get some health benefits through employment – prescription drugs, dental care, massage therapy – these are not covered by the provincial insurance system. I believe that prescriptions for seniors are covered, but I’m not sure, and I’m still a few years away from finding out. Of course I’d like to keep more of my earnings, but frankly I don’t feel overtaxed for the services I receive.

As the best country in the world, why shouldn’t we have the best of everything including health and health care?

Nandy—are you too broke to pay your Aryan Brotherhood dues for the spring quarter?
Perhaps GOZIT will float you a loan.
