Ted Rall for June 16, 2010
Transcript:
Tonight: The worst environmental disaster in history. We have full coverage. Toad: How will this impact the democrats this fall? Bird: Good question! Pocketbook issues will determine the outcome in the midterms. The disaster will hurt, but could cost fewer seats in the house. Whale: 2012 is what Obama cares about. The "drip, drip, drip" aspect of the ecological story will be over by then. Bird: Let's hope so! Whale: Next: Can Obama exploit our deaths for political gain?

Focusing your life solely on making a buck shows a certain poverty of ambition. It asks too little of yourself. Because it’s only when you hitch your wagon to something larger than yourself that you realize your true potential. Barack Obama

Brilliantly done. We need more cartoonists skewering horse-race journalism.

It’s a good thing Repubs don’t use disasters (natural or man-made) to push their agenda.
9-11!

And this seems to be a random, disorganized attack with a matching response. If Hugo Chavez had orchestrated this we’d be bombing Caracas. That wouldn’t do any good, but it’s about the only thing we seem to know how to do effectively

The Bush Administration, with the gleeful help of corporate media, exploited 9-11 shamelessly for political gains, and the American public, always eager for a good war, swallowed it eagerly.

Heck, you could have mentioned the Gulf Oil spill. Republicans have been drooling over this one.Lt_Lanier over 13 years ago
Wait, Repubs? Aren’t the Dems in power, those eunuchs, according to FactCheck?

Lizzie S,
Comics is plural.
Comic’s, or comics’, is possessive.
I’ll let English Teacher sort that one out for you.

ATTN mattro53:
I want to set the record straight. It is a false generalization to state that Americans are always eager for war. A great many of us Americans opposed the Iraq war and protested against it before it even started. There were massive anti-war demonstrations.

mattro, pellinator:
the ones who jumped on board eagerly were the media. The public was and continues to be generally opposed. But the public is disorganised and uninformed so their opinion is fruitless - even with voting. We are uninformed because of that media.
Its no secret that in 1917 the revolution took over the government offices but current coups take over the media first and foremost. Guatemala 1954 says it all.
