Nice tribute to Sparky. Now that I think about it Charlie Brown need only look at Brutus to see what happens when a born loser grows up to become the Born Loser! Charlie and Brutus are soul-mates!
In the book, Those Who Love by Irving Stone, one of the closest friends of John Adams was often heard to speak of the value to laughter to heal. That friend would just laugh and that laughter would lead him to even more reason to laugh. But, then, he found himself on the wrong side of the Revolutionary War and as he and his wife retired to England, he lived an embittered life where he could find no laughter, or healing, anymore.
As Brutus has found out, simple platitudes for serious problems offers little healing.
This has been so touching to see all the tributes to Charles Schultz. As for Lucy, if you think about it, she never claimed to be a psychiatrist. She just offered “psychiatric help.” I guess she knew the legal ramifications. ;-)
She actually gave some pretty good advice to Charlie Brown. Charles Schultz would be happy to know that so many remembered his 100th Birthday. I actually met him on multiple occasions when I lived in Santa Rosa, Ca. He was a good man, a patriot and a WWII vet….
I guess Mother G. and Veeblefester are at least part of the reason Brutus feels the need to visit Lucy’s psychiatry booth, even though Lucy is a fussbudget. Thanks for a great tribute to a great cartoonist and happy 100th anniversary of your birth, Mr. Schulz!
remember lucy’s words, brutus – in all of mankind’s history there has never been more damage done than by people who “thought they were doing the right thing…”

With inflation running “rampant,” you should be happy Brutus that Lucy did not raise her price for “consultation work!!”
