My Sunday to-do is to save my comments here. When I get at least ten, I post one nasty/snarky/disgusting comment followed by my ten, so the naughty one falls off my list right away in case someone looks at my profile. Sadly, this week, I haven’t reached the threshold yet. I guess I’ll go do laundry and change some light bulbs.

What, Brutus, Sunday morning and no church planned? Tsk tsk, tsk. Evidently, when you have a day of rest, boy do you ever have a day of rest. Though I’ll bet you’ll have just enough time to work in some Sunday night football.

there are a lot of us that that seem to have laundry to do on Sunday. And I get to shovel after it stops snowing this afternoon, first snowfall of the season. Other than that I’m just planning on watching the birds and squirrels at the feeders

Sundays are for church and rest. Back in the day in the 60’s and 70’s the only store that was open was the 7-11. Sundays were also for family and friends to enjoy a huge meal to have leftovers for the week. I remember it well.

When I was a kid I got up early—about 7 o’clock. Once my mother asked me why I got up so early. Before I could answer my said, “So he can have a longer day to do nothing”.

    From “The Beverly Hillbillies”:

Granny, what do you think of Lafe Crick?

Why he is the laziest, no-account varmint that ever drawed a breath!

    Go, Granny, go.

Why, the only hard work that he ever done was to turn over in bed.

He can get up in the morning with nothing to do, and by nightfall, it’s only half done.

That’s it, Granny, mean mouth him good.

His woman does all the work over at their place, and the only time she ever got him out in the fields, she had to sharpen the stump so he couldn’t sit down!

Blow the lid off, Granny. Let ’er fly.

The only nickel he ever earned was when his pa paid him two bits to stay away from the house.

Why, he would whitewash his own ma and rent her out to haunt houses.

Why, he’s so lazy, even his scarecrows have to sit in a chair.

You talk about a liar, Why, that Lafe Crick, he wouldn’t know the truth if he stepped on it barefooted!

    Go, Granny.

    He’s like a catfish… (sighs)… all mouth… no brains.

He’s got whiskers like a catfish.

    Shifty-eyed… big feet.

I don’t want to talk about it… no more. (deep exhale)

That’s good, Granny, them last two wasn’t much anyway…

Sunday is most definitely the day for that. It coincidentally ties in with Football and other sports also. Emergencies are always the exceptions of course but I don’t see any fires that need to be put out. Though I do note a chill in the air around Gladys as evidenced by her formerly hot cup of coffee……

A friend retired from our company, and when I asked what he does with his time, he replied: “I wake up in the morning with absolutely nothing that I have to do, and that end of the day I am only half done.” He meant that while there was nothing that he HAD to do, there was so much that he wanted to do, that he couldn’t do it all. A lesson in living the good retired life…. : )

It would be nice to see Gladys say that she will take the day off and do nothing also. They could hang around in their jammies with Wilberforce and Kewpie and just be. Kewpie can probably show them how to do nothing for many hours at a time.
