Which is worse? Riding the brakes, seeing brake lights for no reason. I drive 40 miles RT 5 days a week to gym. Speed limit is 50 mph and everybody including police goes 60+. My biggest fear is stopping for red lights…they don’t stop and they get mad if you do! I miss AZ
If you can drive with the Ebrake on, it’s useless. All these safety devices they put on cars, rain sensing wipers, brakes that apply themselves if you get too close to the car ahead of you, vibrating seat if you wander out of your lane or get too close to the building going through the drive thru. I could go on for 246 pages of the owners manual. However an emergency brake that won’t stop a car has become standard. Try stopping your car from 50 mph using the Ebrake. It works as good as coasting. The parking brake on many of the big diesel pick up trucks have a set of brake shoes inside the rear rotors. Disc works better than shoes. Hydraulic work better than mechanical so the engineers of 1 ton trucks put mechanical shoe brakes on 1 ton trucks. The brake shoe are just a little bit smaller than brake shoes on a golf cart. They aren’t big enough to hold the truck in place of the boat ramp, forget about using it in an emergency. My best advice, aim for something cheap or soft. At some point the term emergency brake went away like the manual transmission and parking brake became the new name. My apologies for the rant. If I need to change my name to justagrumpyolddude I understand. 86+ hours and still on generator……….
braking emergency all the time even when driving… my brother would probable go nuts about having to fix something like that when she comes in for repair on the car. :}
I don’t ever want to say what more she could do, because she probably already does it. However, she probably has no emergency/parking brake left. Next she will probably drive with one foot on the gas and one on the brake like some drivers do. I hope that we never get flying cars or jet packs……
Gotta feel bad for Wilberforce as the product of their combined intellectual gene pool. If Brutus had a thought balloon today it would just say: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
we had a guy at work have the e brake on the first notch in the company van and the light didn’t activate, drove like that all day. all the wheel hubs and brakes and discs and drums were ruined
I see a few of those drivers that rest their left foot on the brake pedal, I want to see them do that with a manual transmission as they come up on a Stop sign. Hey Glady’s I hope you’re paying for the new rear brakes when your idea bears fruit. You’re probably one of those that rest the left foot on the brake pedal I’m sure.
I always assume the other drivers will do the stupidest thing possible, then try to prepare for it. We all make dumb mistakes. I told my daughters when teaching them to drive, “Remember, you’re not the only idiot on the road.” They took it as intended.

I did that one time as I was test driving a new car. It is very difficult to drive like that.

Most cars these days have a beeping sound when you’re driving with the brakes on.

So many red light violations! I count to 5 before entering the intersection, looking both ways then accelerate like he!!.

Less wear and tear on the car — not to mention on Brutus’ nerves — if Gladys would just take a defensive driving course.

in japan the emergency brake is called the “side brake.” they’re still using that term even now that the emergency brake is a pedal on the floor… ☺
