In point of fact, many slave owners paid their slaves to have their teeth pulled and implanted in the their owners’ mouths. Washington did that. Sometimes the implants worked. Sometimes they didn’t.

OKAY, contrary to popular belief, Washington did not have wooden teeth, he had hippopotamus teeth ground down to fit his mouth !

Which is why he always looked like he was angry (look at his face on the $1 U.S. bill). You can see his teeth, and other memorabilia (including the lancet that killed him), in the George Washington Masonic National Memorial in Virginia.
