The Republican party has outlived its reason to exist. Best that it go down in flames so that something better can replace it.

The problem here is that if the GOP implodes, what will actually take its place? The TEAParty movement may take its place, and those people just seem wacky. There might also be a party of religious fundamentalists out there, too, who will want to turn this country upside-down to suit its agenda, and we won’t like it.There might even be the “rump” Republicans, trying to espouse the values of the party before Barry Goldwater, perhaps, or even before the Ku Klux Klan took over much of it in the 1920s.

What the GOTP is finding in the sub-sub-sub-sub-basement isn’t Hell, it’s a cesspool. Likewise, what the GOTP has entertained us with lately isn’t mud-wrestling, it’s cesspool wrestling.

@AlexanderTheGoodEnoughIn the GOP, as in a septic tank, the really big chunks rise to the top.

….how low can they go?

If the GOP goes away, its members won’t. We’ll still have millions of angry, resentful, entitled xenophobes, who will be less likely than ever to pick up an ounce of compassion or common sense. Quite a mess.

Trump is the only one who is listening to these people, he really gets it. As the Republican party collapses on itself, conservatives leaders struggle to explain how Trump has seized on his unique qualities as a candidate. His xenophobia and racism appeal to Americans angry over their declining power. It is no longer certain what the Republican Party is, there is little being done about the voters who will give Trump the nomination. It is impossible to predict what will come next for the party, “we are cursed to live in interesting times”

One hopes the voters will cancel the Republcon reality show in November.
Trump is the presidential equivalent of Sanjaya on American Idol. President Trump would be President Sanjaya in terms of legitimacy and authority.

at the bottom is USA surrenders which is where democrats are at
Mr. Blawt over 7 years ago
That is something the Republican party is in to. The Democrats don’t spend time comparing hands like the other guys. Sorry to interrupt your funny conservative fantasy that the left would stoop anywhere near as low as the right.

So the question is are the majority of Americans insanely hateful enough to vote republican after all the recent revelations?
californicated1 over 7 years ago
I would love to see that happen, where multiple political parties have to form coalitions to rule and reach decisions by consensus, but we would also have to curtail the power of the President and regard them as nothing more than a figurehead or caretaker, leaving a Prime Minister in charge, along with their cabinet as well as a government-in-opposition on the other side. The governments that have parliaments seem to run a lot better than the 18th-Century monstrosity ours has become.
