    America grows smaller and smaller every day in the eyes of the world as the resident continues on his mission to make himself bigger — more bigly — every day in every way while putting aside the actual mission of a leader of a republic that has an inherent obligation to unite and make ALL its people safe and secure.

    What kind of person would have its own people take arms against each other and not be removed from command by the “duly elected” representatives of the people in a true republic?

    Tяцmp☠ is the Anti-Lincoln. Where Lincoln sought to preserve the nation, Tяцmp☠, the very definition of a malignant narcissist, is actively and deliberately seeking to destroy it.

    OK, so PяesiDunce Tяцmp☠ doesn’t quite measure up to President Lincoln. It’s not like little Donnie Johnnie hasn’t had any accomplishments. Lessee, he’s 1) packed the courts, including the Supreme Court, with incompetent and loony right-wing judges, 2) presented the 1% with their dream tax cut, and 3) checked every box on Putin’s to-do list. Such a winner! And BTW, anyone who has to tell me, repeatedly, that they are a “winner” most certainly isn’t.

    I like to imagine a scene in which the statue of Lincoln suddenly comes alive (per Ray Harryhausen effect) and rises to its full height. Picking up a horrified Trump by the back of his collar, the statue forces him to read aloud the inscriptions in the monument walls. Then he gives the whimpering Trump, the seeming antithesis of what Lincoln stood for, a lecture about about the monstrous results of division for political gain. And all that captured on camera. (Of course, Fox News would distort the incident to the President’s advantage.) It’s a suggestion for someone talented in video production, although it wouldn’t be surprising if the general idea hasn’t been used in the past.

    Lincolnesque [Not] {a pair of limericks}

    Like Lincoln this president’s not;

    such qualities Donald ain’t got. -

    - Performing grotesquely

    and not Lincolnesquely,

    he ain’t worth doodly squat.

    Historians won’t ever allot

    to Trump an honorable slot; -

    - Yet he’ll not be forgot

    for his role in our rot.

    on America Trump is a blot.

    Lincoln is turning over in his grave at what his party has become. No, wait, correction! Since 1964 or so, the Democratic Party has been the Party of Lincoln.

    Benedict Donald is but the symptom. It has been said many times already, but it certainly bears repeating: the “Party of Lincoln” has, over the last several decades, degenerated into being the Party of Jefferson Davis, yea even the Party of John Wilkes Booth. The right-wing nut-job Republicans have become a despicable minority in full rebellion against our government, the Constitution, and We the People. They’ve assassinated the Party of Lincoln and laid it cold in its grave.

    While it may not be a law. Trump broke another presidential tradition when he used the Lincoln Memorial as a backdrop. I’m sure he didn’t put any pressure on the Secretary of the Interior to greenlight the event. Donnie wouldn’t do anything like that. Ever. Never. Trust him folks, he’s never lied to you.

    Exactly. Sitting at the feet of the towering Lincoln statue only emphasized the gulf in leadership between the two presidents. Simply staggering how little sense of irony Trump and his family possess.

    I think I remember G.W.Bush giving a talk in front of the Statue of Liberty not long after the 911 attacks. And also that famous talk, through a bullhorn, standing on the ruble at the Twin Towers with shards of steel still smoking in the background, with his arm around the fire chief. W stood tall then, way taller than the current wimp staging sacrilege in front of the Lincoln Memorial. But then a bit later, Iraq happened, and W’s stature went down the tubes and stayed there through the Katrina fiasco to the end of his 2nd term.
