We were a country with 2 parties that loved their country instead of 2 parties each wanting to rule the country their way showing little respect for the other side. Why did we let this happen? How do we stop it?
I had not thought I would hear “Love It or Leave It” again after having grown up with that slogan of hatred against people opposed to the Vietnam war. As it turns out, the Vietnam war protestors were correct in their opposition.
It is also interesting that Democrats cannot voice ideas to improve the US without being disparaged for “hating America” yet Republicans can shout “Make America Great Again” without facing the same criticism for saying America is not great and needs to be improved!
Brainless Republicans, still using the same insults from the 1960’s, they should update their insults to Americans. Tired of fighting the same fights for 50 years, Republicans will not let the USA progress. They need to be totally voted out of office.
I have no problem with the simplistic motto, “Love it or leave it!” because I’ve always maintained that, if you “love” something, you’re willing to acknowledge its failures and short-comings and work to fix them.
Unfortunately, the Trumpians are NOT advocating such a course. their ‘slogan’ should be written, “Accept OUR version of America, or leave it!”, which, of course, is totally unacceptable.
And, quite aside from that, as an Amerind, MY RIGHT to be here is totally unassailable.

But does “love” mean “work to improve and safeguard” or “shut up and salute”?

A nice start would be changing the national motto back to e pluribus unum

“Leave it” as paraphrase of “die”?
All too close to the truth.

Isn’t “Love it or leave it” a Klan slogan?

Maybe Nike would have more success with this for a new line of shoes.
