Global commerce, per se, is actually pretty much okay. What’s a problem is global fast transport of goods and people. Not enough time for the virus to self destruct in the case of materials, not enough time for the infected to show symptoms in the case of people.
I’m not sure that global commerce is that well off still. Factories have been idle in a number of places, not least in China, supply chains have been interrupted, and demand for goods has been down as stay home orders have gone out. I think we had better be ready for at least a global recession.
