Dr. Who, if you want to understand global cartoons, you need to actually understand what’s going on the world. You’ve been listening to too many right-wing fact deniers whose hatred of Obama blinkers them to facts on the ground. Obama does not have any “comrades” in Cuba, and has only slightly lifted travel bans so that people with relatives there can visit them. You know, family values.

Just think how much better things would have been for Cuba if we hadn’t granted them their independence in 1906! They could even get a visit from Mitt, like Puerto Rico, where everyone speaks English as the territorial language!

I was being facetious. Just like all the folks who insist Puerto Ricans need to apply for green cards to be legally in the U.S., I’ve seen the same thing with Guam folks over here. Of course my friends in southern California who identified themselves as “Mexican”, not even “Mexican-American”, many years ago, but STILL very much AMERICANS. They were looking at their racial/cultural ancestors with pride in Mayan etc., plus the fact their families had been on that land for over 250 years longer than “Anglos”. Yes, they still spoke Spanish, and English.

Of course there’s also the fact that since the Spanish-American war, very few folks speak “English” any more, favoring “American”, which given the French influence in the south, etc, what IS “American English”???
