Too profitable to continue using fossil fuels. Carbon taxes are one way to level the field. Tax breaks for those making renewable energy equipment and implementing collection would assist.
Its too late already, the climate is changing, CO2 is at 413 ppm, (350 ppm is considered the safe limit) even if we stopped all pollution now it would take 20 years before things start to turn around and no one is even slowing down, things are speeding up.
It is apparent we will not evolve into a Type One civilization.
The scale has three designated categories. This is the first 3 of 6 parts of the Kardashev scale.
A Type I civilization, also called a planetary civilization, can use and store all of the energy available on its planet.
A Type II civilization, also called a stellar civilization, can use and control energy at the scale of its planetary system.
A Type III civilization, also called a galactic civilization, can control energy at the scale of its entire host galaxy.
As long as the Republican party exists in its present form, our nation cannot endure as a free society. Still worse, under their policies the human race is being rapidly propelled toward its extinction.————Allen W. Wood
The cost of our success is the exhaustion of natural resources, leading to energy crises, climate change, pollution, and the destruction of our habitat. If you exhaust natural resources, there will be nothing left for your children. If we continue in the same direction, humankind is headed for some frightful ordeals, if not extinction. -——Christian de Duve
The future of humanity is going to bifurcate in two directions: Either it’s going to become multiplanetary, or it’s going to remain confined to one planet and eventually there’s going to be an extinction event. -——Elon Musk
Let me guess – James Bond, The World’s Not Enough. :)
