This could get real bad, real fast. The coronavirus has a 14 day incubation period and it looks like it can be contagious before the symptoms start. How do you stop people boarding a flight if they have no symptoms? And if it shows up later, do you quarantine everyone that was on that flight? Hopefully, it’s contained soon but it’s going to be a test for our public health system.

Very concerning. Are we as equally concerned about the current flu that has killed over 8000 in the US? Maybe if it had a catchy name…

If you take the highest estimates of the flu in the US, the flu has a death rate of below 0.1%.
If you take the latest estimates from China, the coronavirus has a death rate of 2.6%.
