At least he has Seagull. And an imaginary friend isn’t so bad. I had one as a " lonely only". .

I do find it adorable that Rose is just whale reading. And yeah he is in denial about having “the most friends”.. but he does have THREE friends so your hypothesis is flawed Rose. It may be that Gary just.. isn’t imaginary and may be one of the only surreal things in the strip tha’ts actually 100% real. Which if so i’m all for. I mean it dosen’t help spud but Gary isn’t a bad guy he’s just incompetent. Let him live.

So seagull is also his friend, but he sleeps at Wallace’s house – we’ve seen his bed there – so I guess he is sort of a community pet/companion? Sort of how Snoopy was everyone’s dog in the early days of “Peanuts”.
