You don’t have to donate it all. Take the kids out for a day trip somewhere fun for a treat and then donate the rest.

Hoping that mom does the right thing and turns it in to the police. A cut emerald of that size would probably pay off their mortgage, but it’s really not “finders keepers” in the eyes of the law.

Just what I would expect from Wallace.

Depends on the charity. Some of them consume most of the contributions they get as ‘overhead’ (big salaries for executives and such).

She’ll settle on some ‘Invested for his college fund’. And likely back it up with some angle on character building. Minus a family service commission.

Take care of your own house first, then donate.

Donate. Such a complicated word. A charity to one might be a terrorist organization to another. And what’s it worth? “Emerald” sounds very ritzy, but Emeralds scratch easily, and the wholesale value of an emerald that’s been getting kicked around in the sand for many years probably isn’t going to be much compared to expectations. May I suggest an appraisal?

As a relatively new member I have been wondering why the strip is called Wallace the Brave. Now I know.

From the look on his face, I’d say Spud knew Wallace would say something like that. Nice internal conflict in Mom’s heart.
