Well, Merlin did live life travelling the opposite direction in time (according to some sources)[citation needed]. So, his would have an end date. Just not a beginning date…
I think there was an old Twilight Zone episode where the gravedigger dug the grave, and when he got all done, he looked at the stone to read HIS own name, with the dates.

My parents hadn’t even thought about getting a plot until my dad died suddenly. About seven months later, the cemetery called my mom to tell her the marker was in. Dad was in uniform during WWII although he never left the stateside lab where he worked prior to Pearl Harbor. So my mom drove up to see the marble slab with dad’s government marker on it…only the government marker hadn’t arrived yet — but her matching marker, with her name and year of birth, had. Mom told me that actually freaked her out a bit, especially since the cemetery hadn’t mentioned those particular details. We never thought at the time we’d be filling hers in only a few months later.

I want to be cremated when I croak. No grave, no stone.Cemeteries are a waste of real estate. Ashes can be used to fertilize farmland.
