I’d say he should’ve that before breaking the law; but since this comic strip is set it the Middle Ages, the law he might’ve broken was missing mass too many times.
Ever notice that the Spook and the Wiz look alike? I wonder if the Spook is Wiz’s older brother/father who made it rain toads in the castle one to many times?
It’s strange…back in the 60’s and 70’s we only had 4 TV channels to watch…maybe more if you lived close enough to big cities and were in range of other UHF channels…but I always managed to find something to watch. Now I’ve got over 200 channels, plus streaming services, DVD’s out the wazoo….but many a night i find NOTHING that piques my interest…so I just go to bed, cuddle up to my beautiful babydoll wife and read a book.
If the grass is always greener, they should let him out for a day so he can graze; the way the King runs his kingdom, he might be happy to go back to jail.
Dave Berg did the best “grass is always greener” strip in a Lighter Side comic for Mad. In successive panels, we see the stockroom boy, the supervisor, the manager, the veep — all feeling unappreciated and just waiting for the day they get the next job up the ladder. In the final panel we see the CEO, trembling under the strain of all his responsibilities, wishing to be a stockroom boy again.

If he put his mind to it, I’m sure the Wiz could conjure up something interesting.

Bored? With so much work to be done? Spook can have some hard labor improving the infrastructure and the Wiz can go cure cancer or something.

I suppose, boredom, though a part of life, is a relative thing. So that whatever your circumstances, boredom or joy can be a part.

I am never bored. Free time is prized for a book or nap or extra walk.

Boredom will chase you if you don’t get your butt moving and find something to do. At least the prisoner has an excuse.
