Today is Saint Swithin’s Day. This was mentioned to me earlier in the year. Back in March, I commented on the first three days and the saints that they are dedicated to – Saint David, Saint Chad and Saint Winnaloe. I mentioned two poems:-
“Saint David and Saint Chad,
Sow seed good or bad."
“First Saint David, then Saint Chad,
Then Winnaloe as though he was mad."
Someone asked me about Saint Swithin’s Day. It has now arrived. We are having a wet summer here in the UK and this means that many places will have a wet Saint Swithin’s Day. According to English folklore, rain on Saint Swithin’s Day will last for a further forty days and forty nights. This is born out by the fact that rain on July 15 only happens in a wet summer such as we are having this year.
I tend to comment on Saints’ Days here on The Wizard of Id as they were very important in the Middle Ages.
Back in the late ’60’s me ’n the wife invested in a king size water bed that came with a heater that was placed under the mattress. Now, I see an add on the tube wherein one can buy a mattress that can/will cool you down?

It only works for as long as they don’t touch each other.

What if the warm air and cold air meet and cause a thunderstorm over their bed?

In my house it’s the other way around. In the winter my wife sleeps with the window open.

How about Separate Bathrooms?

Wouldn’t there be a tornado or a lightning storm, right down the middle?

Unfortunately, my wife’s “too cold” zone is up to 75 °F (24 °C) and her “too hot” zone is down to 70 °F (21 °C).
