I’m with Norm. I feel somewhat uncomfortable and embarrassed when someone says “thank you for your service”. I don’t feel I did anything spectacular. In fact, in my case, I was dodging the war in Vietnam by enlisting in the AF when I got my notification to report for my pre-induction physical. The ones they should be thanking are the ones who never made it home or came home broken, either physically or emotionally/mentally.
