I’ve been on both sides of this. I issued unpopular memos on occasion, nothing like banning jelly doughnuts – that’s just crazy. I have also ridiculed other Director’s and VP’s memos as untenable.
I recall one of them found out about my derision at their expense. He asked me if I was saying things behind his back. I said, no, or at least nothing I wouldn’t say to his face. His policy was going to be that anyone taking flexible hours for child care would be required to make up 1.5x the hours they revised. So for 10 hours of shift change, they would be required to work 15 hours (for 10 hours pay).
I told him this was illegal, and immoral. He did it anyway. It wasn’t a day later that Corporate HR flew in, took him to lunch and then we never saw him again. I think they transferred him to Alaska. Oh, and our company at the time was working as hard as they could to be one of the best places to work for, hence the original flex hour policy. We were an honorable mention that year…so didn’t make the list. The next year, they just gutted everything nice they did, since they figured they would never make the cut.
“We, the unwillng, led by the unqualified, have been doing the unbelievable so long with so little, now attempt the impossible with nothing”. Plaque that hangs over my desk.
They all are Dumb Diddly Dunderheads, Rita. Best not to comment about anyone upstairs to a person from upstairs. Love the lovely shade of green and change of hair and stern look in panel 2.

Please, consider using Rita’s look in panel two for the upcoming Halloween strip.

No more jelly doughnuts is quite specific. So I guess white icing with sprinkles is OK?

Love Rita’s new hairstyle in panel two. She’s had a few over the years, but this might be the most apropos. :)

I’d never make it in management. I am WAY too diplomatic, and usually think before I speak or write. At least at work.

I love what Rita did with her hair in Panel Two.
