The movies are crummier than they have been in decades. I’ve been to three movies this year. One for my kids (Jurassic World), one for me (Maverick – just had to see the jet scenes on the big screen with surround sound better than mine), and last week we saw Devotion. Maverick was good, but seriously it was like a rehash of the original in so many ways – but the flight scenes were still epic.
Devotion was good, we went so my oldest could make a comparison between the book and how Hollywood generally ruins a book. Wasn’t so bad actually, but the book was (for me) one of those I really had difficulty putting down – good story on so many levels, but I like history, and military history.
Jurassic World…meh. The dinos and special effects were decent but it just rehashed the already rehashed previously rehashed hash.

Pro wrestling tells us there are really only 6 plots, and you just have to make variations.

If he was proposing something original he wouldn’t have gotten in the room.

They say there are really only seven different stories in the world… six of them are Avengers plots.

How come all movie producers have bad hairlines, Hawaiian shirts, and weird tinted glasses?

That’s the trouble with Hollywood today! They’ve run out of ideas and bringing old plots and stories to light…again!

No different than music to me. I’m not a musician, but didn’t they use up all the possible combination of notes by now? :)
