    I loved it till the ending. All of those figs require a lot of work ~ hopefully it’s a labor of love. Sitting & waiting around for them to fall at your feet just isn’t going to happen. Not if life is going to be fulfilling…? I felt there was a positive twist, but didn’t follow it.

    I have tasted more than one fig — and other fruits, as well — and I feel the more nourished for doing so.

    Rarely do we get such outstanding “figs”. I feel fortunate to find a skill I could pursue given my handicap, make a decent living at a job I enjoyed.

    If these had been her expectations, no wonder Ms. Plath committed suicide. I consider it a gift to find a satisfying path through life regardless of the apparent success, wealth, etc.
