It certainly helps us appreciate how insignificant we are compared to the vastness of not just the universe, but our own galaxy, while at the same time how important we are as individuals to people around us…and conversely how important they are to us. Kindness certainly goes a long way.

I can hear his voice once again, reading the words. Thanks for the illustrations, too. Seen through the eyes of a kid, we get the perfect perspective.

Great. Crying on a Monday morning. Thanks a lot….

I miss Carl. We need him badly today. Except….

We do have him. He wrote so much about our universe, our world, our species, that we can draw from it vast lessons to be applied today.

    If we would only listen.

I saw “Cosmos.” Then I read the book. Then I read “Broca’s Brain” and then “Dragons of Eden.” “Comet” was okay, and “Contact” was different. Everything else, including “Pale Blue Dot,” seemed to be Carl’s almost-desperate attempt to get humanity to listen.

    Listen.

As every 2nd grade teacher will remind us, “Pay attention!”

I’m trying, Carl. I really am.
